What is your "why"? What drives you to do this important work each day?
My reason is my students. What drives me to do this work is knowing the impact it has not only on Black learners' educational experience, but also their social engagement and overall well-being. Knowing that me being there makes students want to come to school and inspire them to be whatever they aspire to be is my why, and what drives me to do this work each day.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
What I enjoy most about my role is the positive impact I bring to their educational experience, seeing the students happy in their learning environment, and embracing our culture.
What would you most like families to know about the role of Student Support Workers in HRCE schools?
I would like families to know that SSW are here to support their students not only academically but socially as well. Families should know that we want the best for their child, it is a team effort, and the importance of community.
